This guide will use the Source Editor. It will also assume you know the basics of how to create a wiki page (Wikipedia, Fandom, and most other wikis use MediaWiki which is the software used for this wiki). Anyone is allowed to create a page but please don't vandalise other people's pages.

Steps

Step 1: Creating the page

The easiest way to create a page is to visit the URL. See the AlternateWiki:How to create an article in the URL? Replace that with your article name. Article names follow the format of Section Name/Article Name. Pseudopedia is used for the semi-factual Pseudopedia articles and Standalone is used for articles which are not part of a larger section with links to other pages. The article name should usually be a short form name (i.e. "United Kingdom" instead of "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Irelandy" or "Nazi Party" instead of "National Socialist German Workers' Party").

When on the page, click the "edit" or "create this page" button.

Step 2: Writing the page

Page content is written from an in-universe perspective. Rather than writing "The Evil Empire was an empire in the Super-Evil timeline.", you write "The Evil Empire was an empire." Generally, it helps to look at a few real Wikipedia articles similar to your topic to see how an article could be formatted.

Infoboxes

Infoboxes are useful tools to display a decent amount of information. They are usually placed before any text. Most infoboxes are templates from Wikipedia but I (User:Tombricks) created Template:Infobox polity for countries, subdivisions and geopolitical organisations.

Step 3: Adding categories

Pages need the following categoires (added by [[Category:CATEGORY NAME]]):

  • SECTIONNAME articles - This is required for all articles
  • Countries, Political parties, People, Political theories, etc - General categorisation
  • Articles with body content/Articles with lede content/Articles without body content - Pretty self explanatory

{{Retc|REALCOUNTRYNAME}} should also be added to add the related topics categories.

Step 4: Publishing

After finishing the page (using Show Preview to review your work), press Save Page then Publish it.
