The easiest way to create a page is to visit the URL. See the ''AlternateWiki:How to create an article'' in the URL? Replace that with your article name. Article names follow the format of ''Section Name/Article Name''. ''Pseudopedia'' is used for the semi-factual [[:Category:Pseudopedia articles|Pseudopedia articles]] and ''Standalone'' is used for articles which are not part of a larger section with links to other pages. The article name should usually be a short form name (i.e. "United Kingdom" instead of "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Irelandy" or "Nazi Party" instead of "National Socialist German Workers' Party").

Page content is written from an in-universe perspective. Rather than writing "The Evil Empire was an empire in the Super-Evil timeline.", you write "The Evil Empire was an empire." Generally, it helps to look at a few real [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Wikipedia] articles similar to your topic to see how an article could be formatted.

Infoboxes are useful tools to display a decent amount of information. They are usually placed before any text. Most infoboxes are templates from Wikipedia but I ([[User:Tombricks]]) created [[Template:Infobox polity]] for countries, subdivisions and geopolitical organisations.

Pages need the following categoires (added by ''<nowiki>[[Category:CATEGORY NAME]]</nowiki>''):
# Add the required section category for all articles by including [[:Category:SECTIONNAME articles]] i.e. [[:Category:Pseudopedia articles]].
* SECTIONNAME articles - This is required for all articles
* Countries, Political parties, People, Political theories, etc - General categorisation
# Include additional categories based on the content of your article, such as [[:Category:Countries]], [[:Category:Political parties]], [[:Category:People]], [[:Category:Conflicts]], etc.
# <nowiki>{{Retc|REALCOUNTRYNAME}}</nowiki> should be added to generate related topics categories. Example: <nowiki>{{Retc|United Kingdom</nowiki> adds [[:Category:United Kingdom-related topics]] and [[:Category:Europe-related topics]]. See [[Module:Related topics category]] for the possible categories.
* Articles with body content/Articles with lede content/Articles without body content - Pretty self explanatory
''<nowiki>{{Retc|REALCOUNTRYNAME}}</nowiki>'' should also be added to add the related topics categories.

This guide will use the Source Editor. It will also assume you know the basics of how to create a wiki page (Wikipedia, Fandom, and most other wikis use MediaWiki which is the software used for this wiki). Anyone is allowed to create a page but please don't vandalise other people's pages.

Steps[edit | edit source]

Step 1: Creating the page[edit | edit source]

  1. Visit the URL of the wiki and replace the article name (where "AlternateWiki:How to create an article" is for this page) with your desired article name. The format for article names is "Section Name/Article Name." The article name should be in short form (i.e. United Kingdom instead of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland).
  2. Once on the page, click the "edit" or "create this page" button.

Step 2: Writing the page[edit | edit source]

  1. Write the content of the page from an in-universe perspective. Avoid phrases like "The Evil Empire was an empire in the Super-Evil timeline." Instead, write "The Evil Empire was an empire."
  2. Look at similar articles on platforms like Wikipedia to get an idea of how to format your article.
  3. Consider using infoboxes to display relevant information. Infoboxes are usually placed before any text. You can find templates for infoboxes on Wikipedia, and there is also a custom template called Template:Infobox polity created by User:Tombricks for countries, subdivisions, and geopolitical organizations. For templates that are not yet on this wiki, message tombricks on Discord.

Step 3: Adding categories[edit | edit source]

  1. Add the required section category for all articles by including Category:SECTIONNAME articles i.e. Category:Pseudopedia articles.
  2. Include additional categories based on the content of your article, such as Category:Countries, Category:Political parties, Category:People, Category:Conflicts, etc.
  3. {{Retc|REALCOUNTRYNAME}} should be added to generate related topics categories. Example: {{Retc|United Kingdom adds Category:United Kingdom-related topics and Category:Europe-related topics. See Module:Related topics category for the possible categories.

Step 4: Publishing[edit | edit source]

  1. After completing the page, use the "Show Preview" option to review your work.
  2. Once you are satisfied, click "Save Page" to publish your article.

Remember to adhere to the guidelines and avoid vandalizing other people's pages. Happy editing!
