Brazil, officially the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in South America and Latin America. It is one of the largest countries in the world both by land and area. Its capital is Brasília and its most populous city is São Paulo. As a federative republic, it is made up of a number of states.

It has a large coastline with the Atlantic Ocean to its east and borders all other countries and territories in South America except Ecuador and Chile. It covers nearly half of the continent by land area.

Brazil is nominally neutral in the Sino-Soviet Cold War and is considered one of the last significant reactionary countries in the world, led by an authoritarian right-wing]] government established after the "Nationalist Revolution of 64". It claims to be the biggest anti-socialist force in Latin America and is often described as having inherented the geopolitical role of the former United States.
