The HOI4 Modding Den, alternatively the Modding Den or simply the Den for short, is a community of HOI4 modders. It is the largest community by population, overtaking the Coop in 2021, with over five thousand denizens. It has strong ties to the HOI4 Modding Coop and the remnant HOI4 Modding Plaza and r/hoi4modding is an autonomous community of the Den. Its capital is chat-chat-chat-chat-chat-chat-chat-chat while the government is centered in admin-channel.

The Den was founded in 2017 by Insanegorey as a community linked to r/hoi4modding, itself founded August the previous year and would later become an autonomous part of the Den. INSERT OLDER BASIC HISTORY STUFF

INSERT RECENT HISTORY STUFF (I.E. GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE GREENBUELLER ERA?)

The Den, while officially led by the Administrator (since 2020, Greenbueller), operates as an oligarchy with the Moderators, each appointed by the Administrator with consultation from the existing Moderators, having near unlimited power and acting autonomously within the context of the Rules while also in cooperation with one another. The Administrator, despite having only limited more powers than the Moderators, still acts as a guide and is consulted before any major changes take place. The rule of the Moderators has been described variously as authoritarian or "1984-esque" with the denizens themselves having little power and only non-binding influence. Some Moderators have also been described as forming cults of personality around them and have clashed with each other on occasion, which has led to the Den also being described as "multi-personalist".
